For those who dread seeing black little dots cloud your vision on an otherwise perfectly good day: this is for you.

Migraines are weird. They’re painful, disruptive and really hard to put into words. They can mess with your vision, make sounds unbearable, make the room spin, scramble your thoughts — or just make it impossible to go about your day.
And when they’re over, sometimes the last thing you want to do is think about them again.
But migraine can also be a lonely experience. In the worst moments, it can feel like you’re trapped inside your own head, waiting and hoping for it to pass.
Migraine Diaries is an attempt to visualize and share the lived experience of migraine.
To take something that happens privately and put it into pictures. To revisit experiences we might rather forget, look at them with a little distance, and see what we can learn from them. And to create a shared record of all the strange, painful, frustrating — and maybe sometimes hauntingly beautiful? — ways migraine can feel.
These are drawings of what migraines actually feel like, from the people who experience them.
There’s still a lot we don’t understand about migraines. More research is needed. More attention is needed. And there is still so much to learn.
So this is one small attempt to capture what they’re actually like.
Maybe seeing it helps.
